Max Redding handles lead and rhythm guitar duties for the Sound. He is a multi-instrumentalist with a love and respect for all genres of music, particularly blues, southern rock, traditional country, and hard rock/heavy metal. Max grew up in the D.C. bedroom community of Vienna, Virginia and he began playing music at the age of 11. He credits his uncle Chris Redding (a talented blues man and professional music educator) with teaching him everything he knows, along with his parents Tim and Laura for their unwavering encouragement and support in his musical pursuits. Max cut his teeth playing in hardcore punk and heavy metal bands through his teens and twenties, and within the last few years has recognized a desire to return to performing the roots music he closely associates with his upbringing. He relocated from Leesburg, VA to Elizabeth City, NC in mid 2024 along with his wife Bethany and their pittie mix Cora, and he cites the Carter Family, Bob Dylan, Billy Corgan, David Gilmour, Darrell Abbott, and Lynyrd Skynyrd among his most influential artists.
