Leon Godwin started his musical performance journey in Chapel Hill in 2003; post-college, post-Appalachian Trail thru-hike, post-cubicle job, and pre-social media. Guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the eclectic bands Big Pretty and the Red Rockets, and later, BUS, Leon recorded two albums over a period of three years and toured frequently in NC and as far north as Duluth, MN (See What You Can Find and Moving People are still available on streaming, and still slap). After the band broke up, Leon kept it ‘in the family,’ and with his wife Brianne on drums, they took the stage as the dynamic duo The Dogwood Deddy. Recently, he’s been seen around northeast NC on occasion, playing solo acoustic sets. Raised on Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix, but a lover of all (well, most) forms of music, Leon lends his tasteful guitar style to the the team.
